Scheduling Tips, Policies & Disclaimers:

To Prevent Mishaps & Misunderstandings, Full Disclosures Are Provided:

Please take a moment to learn about the policies that follow, as some have recently changed. Flexibility is implemented when warranted, otherwise, some polices include fees as noted in each section.

Scheduling Tips:

New Clients:

Openings can be viewed on my online calendar and scheduled with me personally. If my schedule is full, you can request to be placed on a waiting list, and you will be notified as soon as the first available spot opens up. 


Established Clients:

  • Appointments can be scheduled online with a password. If you don’t have it, please get in touch with me directly. 
  • Preset/Standing Appointments: These are reserved for clients who want to secure their spots on a regular basis, and they won’t be offered to others unless canceled. If you have a conflict with any upcoming appointment, please let me know as soon as you know you cannot keep the time so I can try to fill the space. 
  • No Preset/Standing Appointment: Openings are filled on a first come/first served basis. There may be a wait to be seen. I take no responsibility for times when appointments are not available. Please take this into consideration when scheduling gift certificates, discounted sessions, and packages.

Cancellation Policy:

Reminders are sent 3 - 5 business days in advance. Please review and confirm your appointment as soon as you receive these reminders. Confirming—or rescheduling in advance—will help you avoid applicable late cancellation or no-show fees: 


  1. Once your appointment is confirmed, please give a 48 hours’ notice whenever possible if you need to cancel so I have the best chance to fill your spot. 
  2. Otherwise, cancellations must be received on the DAY BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT BY 10:00 a.m. to avoid a full charge fee. 
  3. No-shows are typically billed the full fee. 
  4. Exceptions may be made for unexpected situations that prevent timely communication such as SUDDEN illness, injury, or emergency.

Illness Policy:

Clients are not seen (and I do not work) under the following circumstances, unless medically cleared as not being contagious. Please contact me in advance to postpone your session with any of the following:


  • When actively ill or with lingering symptoms (less than 10 days from the onset).
  • When feeling unusually under the weather, as the contagious period for colds & flu can begin two days before you become noticeably ill.
  • If you have been knowingly exposed to anything contagious, until the incubation period has passed. This includes exposure from travel or large gatherings and events. 


While I rarely bill for cancellations related to illness, this policy is not meant to be a substitute for timely cancellations. Please contact me as soon as you know you are ill or feeling under the weather. If notice is unnecessarily delayed, you may be charged in full. All circumstances are taken into consideration before implementing fees.

Late Arrivals:

Late arrivals will receive the remaining time of the appointment and will be charged the full fee. Unless I am informed that you are on your way, if more than 15 minutes of waiting pass, the session may be marked as a no-show and billed the full fee. There are times when I may leave the premises, especially if it is the last appointment of the day. In the event that I run late, you will either receive the full duration of your appointment or be provided with a credit toward your massage if extending the session is not possible.

The Way Discounts Are Given:

The Full Price (no discount): 0 massages in 13 weeks or more AND no special offer or package.


Normally Discounted Prices (as shown in this website):

  • Packages: Use all massages by the expiration date.
  • Pay-As-You-Go: Prices are determined by the date of the last massage received per massage, on a year-round basis.


Reduced Prices (below the prices shown in this website, per massage type):

  • Packages: Use all massages by the expiration date which may be based upon scheduling frequency.
  • Pay-As-You-Go: The reduced price applies for every session scheduled according to your normal scheduling frequency.
  • One-Price-For-All-Sessions (Sliding Scale Fees): Clients pay the same price at each session, regardless of scheduling frequency, but they are asked to schedule at least one massage every 4-6 weeks.


All Discounted & Reduced Prices:

  • Prices are honored with specific scheduling agreements which are provided at the beginning of the offer, and they are updated annually on September 1st. If you do not agree with the terms, please contact me within 7 days to discuss alternatives. Otherwise, it will be assumed that you agree.
  • Normally Discounted Prices are subject to increase or change every 2 years: Current Prices: 10/1/2024-9/30/2026. 
  • Reduced Prices increase annually once they have been in place for 12 months, until the normal price is reached: Current Prices: 10/1/2025-9/30/2026.
  • If sessions are not scheduled according to the offer, the cost of the first return massage may be based upon the NORMAL PRICE for the offer, determined by the date of the last massage received, unless due to specific medical circumstances: illness, injury, surgery with recovery, emergency, and if I must cancel preset/standing appointments. Otherwise, alternative appointments can be scheduled (subject to availability). 
  • If you need clarification on your offer, please contact me personally. If your offer no longer suits your scheduling needs, please speak to me and I will create another one for you, though it will not be at the same price. 


Refunds on Packages:

Refunds are available upon request when...

  • They are requested within 5 days of purchase.
  • You relocate and cannot use your massages by the expiration date.
  • Medical circumstances prevent you from receiving massages by the expiration date. 
  • I am unable to provide the service for 6 months or more.


Packages can be gifted to another person instead:

  • Please provide me with their name, telephone number and email address. Remaining balances will apply to the price they normally pay. Prepaid gratuity will apply towards gratuity.


Otherwise, expired balances can be used towards any full price session of equal length for one-year, after which balances will be forfeited.

Payment Options:

Gratuities are greatly appreciated, and they are seen as an extra contribution beyond the price of the session.


Payments are processed in my studio at the time of service, by telephone, or emailed invoice upon request.


Payment Options:

All major credit and debit cards are accepted, allowing you to enjoy credit card rewards and earn airline miles. 

  • Transaction fees may apply: 3% for in-person chip card payments and 4% for all other transactions. No fees: Zelle, cash, or checks from established clients. 

Gift Certificates:

  • Gift certificates are sold with 12-month scheduling terms. 
  • Please use all massages, or schedule all massages in advance, by the expiration date. 
  • Extensions are given if situations occur that prevent you from scheduling the massage(s), such as medical circumstances (illness, injury, surgery), or emergency, upon request.​


​If you choose not to use your gift certificate:

  • Gift certificates are non-refundable, but they can be gifted to someone else, by the expiration date, upon request. Please contact me with their name, telephone number, and email address. The prepaid amount will apply to the price they normally pay. Prepaid gratuity will apply towards gratuity. 
  • Otherwise, expired balances can be used towards any full price session of equal length for one-year, after which balances will be forfeited.

Personal Property (Lost & Found):

It is not uncommon for clients to leave personal items behind after their massage. I will immediately contact you if I notice you have left something behind in my treatment room. Rest assured that what is left behind will be safeguarded, until it is returned to you.

Items left outside of my studio (restroom, lobby, etc.) cannot be safeguarded, and I take no responsibility for those items.​

Massage therapy and bodywork are not replacements for professional health care treatments. Make sure to share any updates about your health status. If you have a specific illness, consult your doctor before starting any massage therapy or bodywork sessions.

A Touch of Balance Massage for Health & Jan Jakubowski, LMT focuses solely on assessing and addressing clients' concerns related to emotional stress, chronic pain, long-term tension, or injuries. It does not perform diagnostic procedures, treat specific medical conditions, conduct spinal or skeletal manipulations, or prescribe natural, herbal, or pharmaceutical remedies.


The primary aim is to encourage relaxation and support overall health and well-being. Results may vary based on individual circumstances, unique situations, and the frequency of sessions.


Clients are encouraged to make informed choices based on their individual risk factors, such as age and pre-existing health conditions. Ultimately, the decision to receive massage therapy is a personal one. 

Zero Tolerance Policy:

Massage therapy has progressed into being a frequently sought after preventative healthcare practice, and most people are looking for professional and legitimate massage therapists. Unfortunately, there are still times when misconceptions can occur on the touch aspects of massage. I take strict measures to avoid having experiences of this nature, so it must be mentioned here: Any inappropriate advances or suggestions coming my way will not be tolerated. The session will be immediately ended with a full charge fee, and law enforcement may be contacted.

Privacy Policy:

A Touch of Balance Massage for Health does not collect sensitive or personal information on this website and will never sell or share any private details with others. However, cookies may be used as part of the site’s functionality through Google or GoDaddy. Please adjust your preferences when using this site.
