Policies & Disclaimers

Scheduling Policies:

New Clients:

Please reach out to me personally to schedule. If my schedule is full, you can request to be placed on a waiting list and notified as soon as the first available spot opens up.


Established Clients:

  • Online Scheduling: To keep things organized and secure, established clients can schedule appointments online with a password. If you don’t have it, please get in touch with me directly. 
  • Preset/Standing Appointments: These appointments are reserved for clients who want to secure their spots on a regular basis, and they won’t be offered to others unless canceled. If you have a conflict with any upcoming appointment, please let me know as soon as you know you cannot keep the time so I can try to fill the space. 
  • No Preset/Standing Appointment: Openings will be scheduled on a first come/first served basis. There may be a wait to be seen. 

Cancellation Policy:

Reminders are sent 3 - 5 business days in advance. Please review and confirm your appointment as soon as you receive these reminders. Confirming—or rescheduling in advance—will help you avoid applicable late cancellation or no-show fees. Please take a moment to read the following:


Appointment Reminders: 

  • Once your appointment is confirmed, please give a 48 hours’ notice whenever possible if you need to cancel so I have the best chance to fill your spot. 
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full, and no-shows are typically billed the full fee. Exceptions may be made for unexpected situations that prevent timely communication.


Illness Policy:

Thank you for helping me keep EVERYONE well! 


While I encourage clients to stay home when ill, it is important to know that cancellations for same day illness may be billed in full, if notice is unnecessarily delayed. Please notify me as soon as you know you cannot keep an appointment.


In general, clients are not seen (and I do not work) under the following circumstance, unless medically cleared as not being contagious:

  • You are or have been ill and still have lingering symptoms.
  • You feel unusually under the weather, as the contagious period can begin before you become noticeably ill.
  • You have been knowingly exposed to anything contagious, until the incubation period has passed. This includes exposure from travel or large gatherings and events. 

Late Arrivals:

  • Late arrivals will receive the remaining time of the appointment and will be charged the full fee. If my schedule allows for flexibility that day, you can opt to receive the full time with an extra charge, per minute of time.
  • If more than 15 minutes of waiting pass, the session may be canceled and marked as a no-show, unless I am informed that you are on your way.
  • In the event that I run late, you will either receive the full duration of your appointment or be provided with a credit toward your massage if extending the session is not possible.

Payment Options:

Gratuities are greatly appreciated, and they are seen as an extra contribution beyond the price of the session.


Payment Options:

  • All major credit and debit cards are accepted, allowing you to enjoy credit card rewards and earn airline miles. Transaction fees may apply: 3% for in-person chip card payments and 4% for all other transactions. 
  • No fees: Zelle, cash, or checks from established clients. 
  • Online payments are available when purchasing gift certificates on my website or by emailed invoice. All other payments are processed in my studio at the time of service, or by phone upon request.

Discounted/Reduced Prices:

The prices posted in this website are the normal prices for each massage type or special offer. If the price you pay is LOWER for the massage type you receive, this is a REDUCED PRICE. 

  • All reduced prices are honored with scheduling agreements and active package renewals, which are disclosed at the start of each offer. 
  • After 12 months in place, prices will increase annually by 3% (rounded off to the nearest dollar) until the normal price is reached. The next scheduled price increase: 10/1/2026.


In all cases: 

  • If appointments are not scheduled according to the offer, the cost of the first return massage will be based upon the normal price and the date of the last massage received, unless due to medical circumstances (illness, injury, surgeries), emergencies, and if I must cancel preset/standing appointments. I take no responsibility for times when appointments are not available. 
  • This policy is in lieu of an overall price increase. When extra charges apply, you are paying the normal price for the session, not a penalty.  Clients are notified if prices change at any session. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.


How prices are determined:

  • The Full Price: Away 13 weeks or more and no package/special offer.
  • Packages: Use all massages by the expiration date.
  • Pay-as-you-go: Prices are set according to the massage frequency you choose, and they may increase if sessions lapse on a year-round basis.
  • One price for all sessions: Acts like a sliding scale fee. Clients pay the same price at each session regardless of scheduling frequency but are asked to schedule at least 1 massage every 6 weeks.


Refunds on Packages:

  • Packages are refundable upon request under the following circumstances: Within 5 days of purchase, if I cannot provide the service for 6 months or more, if clients relocate or have health issues or injuries that prevent massage for 6 months or more. 
  • In lieu of a refund, the remaining balance can be given as a gift to someone else by the expiration date. Please provide me with their name, telephone number, and email address. The remaining balance will apply to the price they normally pay (any gratuity will apply towards gratuity).
  • Otherwise, remaining balances will be forfeited 1 year from the expiration date.

Terms on Gift Certificates:

  • Gift certificates come with 12-month scheduling terms. 
  • Please use all massages, or schedule all massages in advance, by the expiration date. 
  • Extensions are given if situations occur that prevent you from scheduling the massage(s), such as medical circumstances, or emergency, upon request.​


​If you choose not to use your gift certificate:

  • Gift certificates are non-refundable, but they can be gifted to someone else, by the expiration date, upon request. Please contact me with their name, telephone number, and email address. The prepaid amount will apply to the price they normally pay (any gratuity will apply towards gratuity). 
  • Otherwise, remaining balances will be forfeited 1 year from the expiration date.

Personal Property (Lost & Found):

It is not uncommon for clients to leave personal items behind after their massage. I will immediately contact you if I notice you have left something behind in my treatment room. Rest assured that what is left behind will be safeguarded, until it is returned to you.

Items left outside of my studio (restroom, lobby, etc.) cannot be safeguarded, and I take no responsibility for those items.​

Massage therapy and bodywork are not replacements for professional health care treatments. Make sure to share any updates about your health status. If you have a specific illness, consult your doctor before starting any massage therapy or bodywork sessions.

A Touch of Balance Massage for Health focuses solely on assessing and addressing clients' concerns related to emotional stress, chronic pain, long-term tension, or injuries. It does not perform diagnostic procedures, treat specific medical conditions, conduct spinal or skeletal manipulations, or prescribe natural, herbal, or pharmaceutical remedies.


The primary aim is to encourage relaxation and support overall health and well-being. Results may vary based on individual circumstances, unique situations, and the frequency of sessions.


IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER FOR COVID-19:
Clients are encouraged to make informed choices based on their individual risk factors, such as age and pre-existing health conditions. Ultimately, the decision to receive massage therapy is a personal one. 


I am dedicated to minimizing the known risks as much as possible, and with clients taking their own precautions, massage therapy can be offered with minimal risk. 


Given the nature of this virus and the inability to guarantee complete safety anywhere, all liability for COVID-19 will be waived for services provided by A Touch of Balance Massage for Health and Jan Jakubowski.

Code of Ethics & Zero Tolerance Policy:

Massage therapy is a highly valued profession in preventative healthcare, but outdated misconceptions about the "touch aspect" still exist. At A Touch of Balance Massage for Health with Jan Jakubowski, all services are strictly professional and legitimate.


Any inappropriate behavior or suggestions will result in the session being terminated immediately, with the full fee charged. Future appointments will be declined, and law enforcement will be notified.

Privacy Statement:

A Touch of Balance Massage for Health does not collect sensitive or personal information on this website and will never sell or share any private details with others. However, cookies may be used as part of the site’s functionality through Google or GoDaddy. Please adjust your preferences when using this site.
